Mercedes have confirmed former F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen as a DTM driver for a third season.

Felipe Massa is pleased with the Ferrari F2007, despite crashing in testing at Vallelunga.
“For me, we are already a step ahead compared to last year’s car, especially in terms of stability,” he told the ANSA news agency.

Lewis Hamilton escaped without injury from a major accident at Valencia today. His MP4-22 is however too badly damaged to repair at the Spanish circuit, cutting Hamilton’s test short. Teammate Fernando Alonso will run tomorrow in the sister car as McLaren investigate the cause of the crash.

Super Aguri’s SA07 has failed the mandatory FIA crash test and the team have been forced to delay the car’s official launch. The car is now unlikely to run until late February, assuming that it passes a second crash test once modifications have been made.

Nico Hülkenberg has won both A1GP races at Taupo for Team Germany, while Loïc Duval rounded off a strong debut with two second-place finishes for Team France, despite a slight contretemps at the start of the sprint race.
Robbie Kerr’s weekend ended in disappointment as he retired from the feature race due to technical problems.
