F1 testing continued today in both Bahrain and Barcelona. Felipe Massa topped the times at Sakhir for Ferrari, ahead of Lewis Hamilton for McLaren and Kimi Raikkonen in the sister Ferrari. Renault, BMW Sauber, Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing, Honda, Super Aguri and Toyota were also running.

Renault driver Heikki Kovalainen escaped without injury from a heavy crash during F1 testing in Bahrain. The right side of his car was destroyed in the impact however the Finn was able to get out of the car unaided.
The crash may significantly delay Renault’s test program in Bahrain.

Nico Hülkenberg smashed Alexandre Prémat’s A1GP win tally today by taking both victories in Durban, South Africa. The German teenager, who is also leading the championship, won the sprint race from Loïc Duval (Team France) and Matt Halliday (Team New Zealand), before taking the feature race win from Robbie Kerr (Team Great Britain) and Halliday.

Scuderia Toro Rosso have finally confirmed Scott Speed as teammate to Tonio Liuzzi in 2007, after months of rumours and speculation. Although STR re-signing Speed seemed a near-certainty after he featured in a Red Bull promotional film recently, when Red Bull are involved you can never be certain.

Team Germany’s Nico Hülkenberg took yet another A1GP pole position ahead of New Zealand’s Matt Halliday and France’s Loïc Duval in an incident-strewn qualifying session in Durban, South Africa.
Series returnee Neel Jani was fourth for Switzerland, with Jeroen Bleekemolen and Salvador Duran completing the top six for the Netherlands and Mexico respectively.

Testing for the 2007 GP2 season got underway at Paul Ricard yesterday but the day was shortened by bad weather. However, there were some upsets for traditional frontrunners ART, Arden and Minardi Piquet Sports - the fastest time from the triumverate was Lucas di Grassi’s 9th for ART.

GP2 team BCN Competicion have signed 20-year old Argentinian Ricardo Risatti to partner Sakon Yamamoto for the 2007 GP2 season. Risatti, who was teammate to Javi Villa at Racing Engineering’s F3 team in 2005, won the Spanish F3 title with TEC Auto last year.
