Scuderia Toro Rosso owner Gerhard Berger says the team are ready for a court battle if, as expected, Williams and Spyker contest the legality of STR’s 2007 car, a version of Red Bull Racing’s RB3.
“If they want to do so, fine, then we will fight it out,” Berger told the official Formula One website. “But again, we checked our situation very carefully, and we don’t see the slightest hint that we are not fulfilling the wording of the regulations.
“We checked very carefully on the legal side, on the FIA side. We have checked very carefully the wording of the Concorde Agreement, and it shows very clearly to us that what we are doing is absolutely correct - that we are inside the regulations.
“We went on a route that even if we wanted we could not go back. It is done.”
Spyker team boss Colin Kolles however is unequivocal, insisting that Toro Rosso and Super Aguri should not be allowed to score constructors’ points if they race with customer cars in 2007 and making clear his team’s position on the issue.
Even their technical director has said they are using the same car except for the mounting points on the engine. He said this to the press in front of people, so they cannot turn it around by changing company names from Red Bull to Red Bull Technology overnight and things like this.
I wonder how a judge will see it. It cannot be. They are afraid of something, otherwise they would not change something like Adrian Newey all of a sudden not being employed by Red Bull Racing but by Red Bull Technology. All this rubbish is just fake.
