Renault driver Heikki Kovalainen escaped without injury from a heavy crash during F1 testing in Bahrain. The right side of his car was destroyed in the impact however the Finn was able to get out of the car unaided.

The crash may significantly delay Renault’s test program in Bahrain.

Meanwhile at Toyota Franck Montagny replaced Ralf Schumacher after the German driver injured his back when he spun his car over the kerbs of the Sakhir circuit.
