Agreement over the use of customer cars in F1 looks unlikely in the run up to the opening race of the season in Melbourne next weekend, with Williams and Spyker not ruling out legal action to challenge the legality of Scuderia Toro Rosso and Super Aguri’s 2007 cars.
“I cannot tell you what will happen for the moment, because some people are expecting some things. Sometimes it is better to keep quiet and come with something that they are not necessarily expecting.
“I hope everything will be resolved before Melbourne and, if people were complying with what had been signed in the Concorde Agreement then there would not be an issue.
“We tried to find a compromise, but now we have to look into the details and see what is realistic. If Super Aguri turns up in Melbourne with an old car then we have no issues.”
- Colin Kolles, Spyker
STR and Super Aguri have both defended the legality of their cars, with STR boss Gerhard Berger being particularly uncompromising on the issue. Super Aguri are not due to launch their new car until next Wednesday.
iSport set the pace on the second day of GP2 testing at Barcelona with a one-two for Andreas Zuber and Timo Glock. Lucas di Grassi was third quickest overall for reigning champions ART. Meanwhile F3 graduate Sergio Jimenez looks increasingly likely to get the second seat at Racing Engineering.
The PKV Champ Car team have confirmed Tristan Gommendy as their second driver for 2007 alongside Neel Jani. The Frenchman competed in both GP2 and World Series by Renault last year.
