Fernando Alonso set the fastest time in first practice in Melbourne, ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. Sebastian Vettel, driving Robert Kubica’s BMW Sauber, set the third fastest time, while rookie Lewis Hamilton was fourth. Fellow rookie Heikki Kovalainen was eighth fastest, despite two brief excursions.
iSport’s Andreas Zuber topped the times at the final pre-season test at Paul Ricord, with Luca Filippi second quickest for Super Nova and Zuber’s teammate Timo Glock third.
