Felipe Massa took pole position for the Bahrain GP, ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari teammate Kimi Räikkönen. Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the BMW Sauber duo of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica fifth and sixth. The struggling Honda team had another qualifying session to forget, with Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button lining up fifteenth and sixteenth.
Super Nova’s Luca Filippi took a lights-to-flag first win in the first race of the 2007 GP2 season in Bahrain. The Italian was untouchable throughout the race, finishing eight seconds ahead of the iSport duo of Timo Glock and Andreas Zuber. Rookie Bruno Senna drove a superb race to finish fourth, ahead of ART’s Lucas di Grassi and fellow Arden rookie Adrian Zaugg. Durango’s Borja Garcia finished eighth and will therefore start on pole for the second race.
Robbie Kerr has taken his first A1GP win in China, after taking an emphatic pole position yesterday. The Team GB car led home Team New Zealand’s Jonny Reid and Team Germany’s Nico Hülkenberg. With Reid finishing ahead of Hülkenberg, the championship remains unresolved.
Sebastien Bourdais is on pole for this weekend’s Champ Car race in Long Beach, ahead of Team Australia’s duo Will Power and Simon Pagenaud. Oriel Servia is standing in for Paul Tracy, who injured his back in an accident during practice on Saturday morning.
