Timo Glock won this morning’s GP2 sprint race after a dominating drive from seventh on the grid. Polesitter Javi Villa finished second, his first GP2 podium finish, while Lucas di Grassi held off a charging Bruno Senna to take third. Star of the race, however, was Giorgio Pantano, who started twenty-first and finished sixth.

Barcelona will host the Spanish Grand Prix until 2016, with Bernie Ecclestone singing the circuit’s praises.

“With these people, it is not necessary to sign a contract because a handshake is enough. When someone asks me what they have to do to construct a quality circuit, I just tell them to go and see the one in Barcelona.”

Shame it tends to produce dull races, eh Bernie?

Reigning Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais will test for Toro Rosso again next week, fuelling speculation that he will move to F1 in 2008. STR boss Gerhard Berger denies that any decision has been made.

“We are still keeping an eye on him,” said Berger. “But we will make no decision about our 2008 drivers before the middle of the season.”

Translation: expect to see him in a Toro Rosso in 2008.
