Ernesto Viso made a dramatic return to the GP2 series, with a horrific crash on the first lap of the race. The Giorgio Pantano won the restarted race from Lucas di Grassi and Bruno Senna. Nicolas Lapierre will start on pole for tomorrow’s sprint race. The other series returnee, Adam Carroll, was black-flagged shortly after the restart.

Felipe Massa has taken pole position for tomorrow’s French Grand Prix, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen. Robert Kubica qualified fourth on his return after his accident in Montreal. Fernando Alonso will start tenth after suffering technical woes in the final qualifying session.

ASM driver Kamui Kobayashi took his first F3 Euroseries win at Magny Cours, ahead of teammate Romain Grosjean and Sébastien Buemi (Mücke Motorsport). However, following the race nine drivers were handed five-place grid penalties for tomorrow’s race for not slowing down under yellow flags - Kobayashi, Grosjean, Dani Clos (Signature Plus), Edoardo Piscopo (Mücke Motorsport), Michael Devaney (Ultimate Motorsports), Marco Holzer (AM-Holzer Rennsport), Sergey Afanasiev, Basil Shaaban (both HBR Motorsport) and Michael Patrizi (Prema Powerteam).

Nico Hülkenberg, who was deemed to be the guilty party in a collision between himself and Filip Salaquarda, was put on probation for the next three races.
