F3 Euroseries frontrunner Sebastien Buemi is to replace the struggling Michael Ammermüller at ART for at least the next two GP2 races.

Red Bull’s driver mentor Dr Helmut Marko told this week’s Autosport: “Michael is still suffering with the pain in the wrist that he broke earlier in the year.

“Sebastien will do the next two races for sure - in Germany and Hungary - and after that we will check on the condition of Michael.”

Given Red Bull’s form for dropping drivers, I’d be worried if I was Michael Ammermüller.

F1 veteran Rubens Barrichello has signed a one-year contract extension with Honda.

“I am delighted to confirm that I am staying with Honda for 2008,” he told his personal website. “When I came here in 2006, it was always my intention to develop a long-term relationship and help build a strong team together.

“2007 has been tough so far but I believe we are heading in the right direction again. In addition to the great team we have already, there are some good new people coming on board and I have confidence that we will make progress now.

Barrichello has endured a dismal 2007 with Honda, with a ninth place at the British Grand Prix the highlight to date.
