The news that McLaren will not be appealing their exclusion from the Constructor’s Championship and their record $100 million fine means that, hopefully, ’spygate’ is now over, at least as far as the FIA are concerned. Fingers crossed for a return to racing rather than courtrooms.
Former Toro Rosso driver Scott Speed will make his ARCA début at Talladega in October.
Speaking about his switch to stock car racing Speed said: “I come from a completely different world of racing, so there’s no doubt it’s going to be a challenge learning how these cars handle, but I’m ready to get out there and see what I’ve got!”
Speed is still supported by Red Bull, despite being ousted from the junior F1 team.
Edoardo Mortara has won the first of two F3 Euroseries races at Barcelona this weekend, ahead of Nico Hülkenberg and Romain Grosjean. However, Grosjean was disqualified following the race for having too mechanics working on his car before the start, promoting Tim Dillman to third. If Grosjean’s appeal is rejected, Harald Schlegelmilch will start from pole tomorrow alongside Edoardo Piscopo.
