Willi Weber protégé Nico Hülkenberg has been confirmed as 2008 test driver for the Williams F1 team.
The 20-year old German driver, who will race in the F3 Euroseries in 2008, tested for the team at Jerez last week alongside race drivers Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima.
Sam Michael, the Williams Technical Director said, “Nico has been through the rigours of our driver assessment programme culminating in his two day test in Jerez last week. Clearly he has shown demonstrable talent in the junior formulae, but it was important for us to see if he could make the step to Formula One.”
“On the evidence we have so far, Nico is a quick and capable driver.”
2007 test driver Nakajima was promoted to a race seat before the Brazilian Grand Prix.
