Mattias Ekström beat Michael Schumacher in the final of the Race of Champions at Wembley yesterday to take his second victory at the annual event. Earlier, Schumacher and teammate Sebastien Vettel won the Nations Cup for Germany.

When interviewed at the event Schumacher insisted that he would not be making a return to racing, but would remain in his advisory role at Ferrari.

Michael Ammermüller took Team Germany’s first victory in the third season of A1GP with a sprint race win at the Zhuhai circuit yesterday, while Narain Karthikeyan took Team India’s first victory in the feature race, ahead of Jonny Reid for Team New Zealand and Team South Africa’s Adrian Zaugg.

GP2 team ART have confirmed Luca Filippi for 2008 as teammate to F3 Euroseries champion Romain Grosjean.

Team co-owner Nicolas Todt said: “I’m extremely pleased we reached an agreement with Luca because he’s a very talented driver.

“His approach is extremely professional and he has quite a lot of experience in the series, which will be useful in aiming for the top step.”

2008 will be Filippi’s third year in GP2.
