Most people would consider a $100 million fine and losing all their 2007 constructor’s points a pretty harsh punishment for a F1 team but then most people aren’t Jean Todt and Luca di Montezemolo, who apparently won’t be satisfied until Ron Dennis gets publicly flogged.
“Should Ron Dennis be banned? We can’t rule in place of the FIA. Let’s see what the organization is like in 2008. This is a world that goes around quickly.”
says Jean Todt to Corriere dello Sport, apparently unaware of the irony of Ferrari adopting any kind of holier-than-thou attitude or the fact that everybody else is trying to move on and forget all about the shenanigans of 2007. And Luca de Montezemolo chimes in with a bit of casual xenophobia after Autosport had the temerity to hand out gongs to McLaren and Lewis Hamilton at the recent Autosport Awards.
“The English never miss a chance to demonstrate their lack of sportsmanship,” he said. “The best car is the one that wins, and that’s the Ferrari.”
In other news there may well be some actual racing going on in 2008. Allegedly.
