Jonny Reid pleased the home crowd by taking pole for tomorrow’s A1GP sprint race at Taupo, ahead of South Africa’s Adrian Zaugg. Team France driver Loïc Duval, who qualified third for the sprint, went on to take pole for the feature race, ahead of Team Germany’s Christian Vietoris.

Honda F1 have named former Williams racer Alex Wurz as their reserve driver for the 2008 season.

“We are very pleased to have secured one of the most experienced technical drivers in Formula One,” said Honda team principal Ross Brawn.

The Austrian left Williams prior to the final race of the 2007 season, to be replaced by Kazuki Nakajima.
