As expected, GP2 veteran Giorgio Pantano has signed for Racing Engineering to contest the 2008 GP2 Series.

Team boss Alfonso do Orleans said: “With the two drivers we have, we are going for the drivers’ and teams’ titles.

“We have the technical and financial resources to make this happen. Both drivers have won before and I’m sure they will win again.”

Pantano will partner RE protégé Javier Villa. Meanwhile, Andy Soucek has signed for FMS, as teammate to Adrian Valles.

Williams have called off testing at Barcelona today after Kazuki Nakajima crashed heavily this morning. The Japanese driver was unhurt but his car was badly damaged.

Red Bull Racing are testing an, um, innovative new engine cover in Barcelona. Whether other teams copy the idea remains to be seen…
