Robert Kubica will start tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position after the BMW Sauber driver just edged out Ferrari’s Felipe Massa in qualifying today. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton starts third, with Kimi Raikkonen fourth.
Honda had a good qualifying, with Jenson Button lining up ninth ahead of Fernando Alonso, and Rubens Barrichello in twelfth.
Romain Grosjean took another step closer to clinching the inaugural GP2 Asia championship at Sakhir today with a convincing win over Sébastien Buemi and Kamui Kobayashi.Grosjean is now 24 points ahead of Vitaly Petrov in the championship.
The American Automobile Association (AAA) has asked Max Mosley to step down as President of the FIA in the wake of last weekend’s revelations about his private life.
In a statement issued on Saturday night, Yolanda Clark Cade, managing director of AAA Public Relations, said: “Recent events involving the leadership of the FIA have been very distressing and embarrassing … AAA recognizes that Mr. Mosley has dedicated many years of his life to advancing the interests of mobility and motorsport. However, after careful consideration, AAA has conveyed to Mr. Mosley that it would be in the best interest of all concerned if he were to step down. “
Mosley is understood to be suing the News of the World for invasion of privacy.
