Romain Grosjean has won the inaugural GP2 Asia championship, despite not finishing today’s sprint race in Sakhir. Grosjean was forced to retire from the race however his point for fastest lap was enough to secure the title.
Kamui Kobayashi won the race, ahead of Sébastien Buemi and Vitaly Petrov.
The News of the World is to send copies of its Max Mosley tape to members of the FIA Senate in the wake of more stories today. Meanwhile, Martin Brundle - who incurred Mosley’s wrath last year - has called the FIA President’s position ‘untenable’.
He would have received much more sympathy and understanding had he tendered his resignation last Monday morning. His stance has inflamed the situation, and he could never now make a keynote speech or force through penalties or regulations with the necessary credibility – with the motoring associations, the teams, the car manufacturers, the sponsors, the fans, the media or the drivers.
It remains to be seen what Mosley’s reaction to this will be…
