McLaren have - inexplicably - been moved back up the pitlane for this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, after being dumped down the order in Bahrain.
“Technically, it’s an advantage as far as we can see and where we are in the pit lane doesn’t affect the races,” team boss Ron Dennis said in Bahrain. “If there is an outcome, it will be positive not negative.”
The move comes amid news that Bernie Ecclestone has taken umbrage at a letter written by Max Mosley last week.
“I sincerely hope that it isn’t a declaration of war because, if that’s what the message should be, then we’ll have to defend ourselves,” 77-year-old Ecclestone, referring to Mosley’s letter, was quoted as saying by the British newspaper The Times. “I don’t want to have a war with Max. I hope he doesn’t want one with me.”
With the FIA no-confidance vote looming, it remains to be seen what else will come out over the next two weeks.
Former A1GP Team Canada driver Robert Wickens will make his F3 Euroseries début at Pau this weekend, replacing Stefano Coletti at Team Signature. Wickens will continue to compete in WSR.
