McLaren have confirmed that Heikki Kovalainen will stay at the team for the 2009 season. The Finn, who joined McLaren from Renault for 2008, has had an uneven season so far but took pole position at the British Grand Prix.
The engine used in Lewis Hamilton’s car at Hockenheim has been given the all-clear after becoming the first engine to be inspected by the FIA to ensure compliance with the engine freeze put in place for the 2008 season. The FIA confirmed that all parts of the engine conformed with the regulations, and there was no disparity between the power unit submitted before the season and the one used at Hockenheim.
