Former F1 World Champion Niki Lauda has attacked the 25 second penalty imposed on Lewis Hamilton in the Belgian GP yesterday which dropped the McLaren driver from first to third.
“This is the worst judgment in the history of F1,” said Lauda. “The most perverted judgment I have ever seen. It’s absolutely unacceptable when three functionaries (the stewards) influence the championship like this.”
McLaren have appealed the penalty but the FIA may not accept their right to appeal.
Spa has generated a huge amount of debate - F1Fanatic has a good summary of the main points of discussion here.
