Felipe Massa took pole at the new Singapore street circuit yesterday ahead of championship rival Lewis Hamilton. Kimi Raikkonen qualified third, ahead of Robert Kubica and Heikki Kovalainen.

Nick Heidfeld, who qualified sixth, was given a three-place grid penalty for impeding Rubens Barrichello - while Barrichello was fined €10,000 for later not using the deceleration zone when entering the pitlane. Heidfeld’s penalty promotes Sebastian Vettel to sixth.
