Reigning F3 Euroseries champion Nico Hulkenberg won today’s GP2 race in Qatar, the first night race the series has run. Hulkenberg lost his pole advantage at the start, which was mired by a huge crash involving Sakon Yamamoto and Yelmer Buurman, but drove a superb race to clinch the victory.

Team Ireland’s Adam Carroll and Switzerland’s Neel Jani took sprint and feature race victories respectively in Taupo, as Ireland maintained their lead of the 2008/09 A1GP championship. Carroll, who had initially led the feature race, fell behind Jani with a pitlane mishap.
Ireland are now 13 points ahead of Switzerland, with Portugal third.

Piquet driver Roldan Rodriguez took pole position for the first race of the 2008/09 GP2 Asia series at Shanghai, ahead of favourite Kamui Kobayashi for Dams. Super Nova’s Javi Villa was third quickest, with ART’s Sakon Yamamoto lining up fourth.

Lewis Hamilton was fastest in first practice for this weekend’s Japanese GP at Fuji, ahead of Felipe Massa and Heikki Kovalainen. Lucas di Grassi won today’s GP2 feature race at Monza ahead of Pastor Maldonado and Sebastian Buemi, on the day that Giorgio Pantano took the 2008 GP2 championship despite losing a likely race victory after receiving a drive-thru penalty for crossing the white line while leaving the pits.

Giorgio Pantano took the GP2 pole position at Monza yesterday - and moved another two points closer to the 2008 title. Lucas di Grassi starts from second on the grid, while Pantano’s championship rival Bruno Senna starts twelfth.

Pastor Maldonado took a last-gap win in the GP2 sprint race this morning, as Bruno Senna failed to capitilise on the absence of the excluded Giorgio Pantano. An eventful race saw a number of crashes, including those of Mike Conway and Andy Soucek.
