Grosjean takes GP2 Asia title

Romain Grosjean has won the inaugural GP2 Asia championship, despite not finishing today’s sprint race in Sakhir. Grosjean was forced to retire from the race however his point for fastest lap was enough to secure the title.
Kamui Kobayashi won the race, ahead of Sébastien Buemi and Vitaly Petrov.

Kubica on pole at Sakhir

Robert Kubica will start tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position after the BMW Sauber driver just edged out Ferrari’s Felipe Massa in qualifying today. McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton starts third, with Kimi Raikkonen fourth.
Honda had a good qualifying, with Jenson Button lining up ninth ahead of Fernando Alonso, and Rubens Barrichello in twelfth.

Shanghai F1 boss jailed for corruption

Yu Zhifei, ex-manager of the Shanghai International Circuit, has been jailed for four years after being convicted of embezzling more than 1m yuan (£69,500; $137,500) during the late 1990s, when he was head of Shanghai Shenhua Football Club.

New qualifying format for F1 2008

F1’s qualifying format will change for 2008, with the contentious Q3 cut to ten minutes to remove the ‘fuel burn’ phase.
