Ferrari’s Felipe Massa took the victory in the European GP at Valencia today, but the win came in controversial circumstances after Massa was released from his pitstop into the path of Force India driver Adrian Sutil. The incident was investigated after the race and Massa was reprimanded, with Ferrari being fined 10,000 euros.

Felipe Massa took pole position for tomorrow’s European GP at Valencia today, ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and BMW’s Robert Kubica. Local hero Fernando Alonso did not progress beyond Q2, ending up 12th.

Ferrari scored a one-two in this morning’s free practice at the Hungaroring, with Felipe Massa easing out Kimi Raikkonen by less than four tenths of a second. Third and fourth were the McLarens of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton, with Fernando Alonso fifth for Renault and Timo Glock sixth for Toyota.
