Heikki Kovalainen put his McLaren on pole for tomorrow’s British GP at Silverstone this afternoon, ahead of Mark Webber’s Red Bull and Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari. Kovalainen’s teammate Lewis Hamilton was fourth quickest, ahead of Nick Heidfeld in the leading BMW Sauber.
It was Kovalainen’s maiden pole position.
